Organ:
The Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) is responsible for the organization and coordination of the work of the Telecommunication Development Sector (ITU-D) of the Union which deals mainly with ICT-focused development policies, strategies and programmes, as well as technical cooperation activities, to promote digital inclusion and drive digital transformation at community, country and regional levels. To effectively and efficiently serve the needs of ITU members, BDT is organized into four functional areas:
  • Office of the Deputy to the Director and Field Operations Coordination Department
  • Partnerships for Digital Development Department
  • Digital Networks & Society Department
  • Digital Knowledge Hub Department

  • Organization Unit:
    The Digital Networks & Society Department is responsible for BDT activities in the areas of spectrum management, network development, cybersecurity, and emergency telecommunications. This department is also responsible for supporting ITU Member States in their transition to digital societies by providing tools and guidelines to address environmental challenges (in particular, climate change and e-waste), and for promoting innovation, ICT applications/services, digital inclusion, and ecosystems, with the ultimate goal to 'leave no one behind'.
     Duties / Responsibilities
    Terms of Reference:

    Under the supervision of the Senior Coordinator (Cybersecurity) and his team, the intern will be responsible for the following activities:
    • Provide general support to the Youth4Cyber project organization and implementation.
    • Support the gathering of youth contributions, research academic institutions that can be included in the Youth4Cyber network.
    • Support the communication by assisting in drafting news-pieces/events and collaterals/presentations.
    • Support the consolidation of the package containing guides/factsheets/scenario-based games.
    • Assist with the organization and promotion of Youth4Cyber winning contribution to the award ceremony and Youth Summit.
     Competencies
    Previous experience in conducting research, event organization, communication and youth engagement are desirable.
    Qualifications required
    Education:
    Ongoing or completed bachelor degree in the fields related to Cybersecurity, Political Science, International Relations and Development Studies.
    Experience:
    No work experience required.
    Languages:
    Working knowledge of English is mandatory. Other official languages of the Union (French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian and Chinese) are an asset.
    Additional Information:
    Please note that a non-remunerated Internship position at ITU does not carry the same conditions of employment as a Short-term or a Fixed-term position. Mandatory Medical Insurance, travel expenses, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or sponsoring institutions.

    The internship will be carried out remotely.
